Fairfield County Players Taking Center Stage In NCAA Lacrosse Tournament

As action heads to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division I  lacrosse championship tournament, several former Fairfield County standouts are set to take center stage, led by Easton’s Connor Kelly, who continued his record-setting season over the weekend in a first-round win.

Kelly - one of five players nominated for the Tewaaraton Trophy as player of the year in D-I and the  Big Ten offensive player of the year - helped defending national champ Maryland to a victory over Robert Morris in the first round, leading them to a quarterfinal matchup with Cornell that is scheduled for Sunday, May 20.

New Canaan’s Michael Kraus had his dreams of a national championship dashed in the first round, when his Virginia Cavaliers were topped by Loyola Maryland on Saturday night.

In the women’s bracket, another New Canaanite, Elizabeth Miller, who like Kraus made the Tewaaraton watch list - helped fourth-seeded Boston College to the quarterfinals with a win over Princeton.where they will take on Stony Brook on Saturday afternoon.
